  9. These are the controls the commander of the Shuttle uses to monitor the conditions on board the Orbiter. From here the commander looks after the Orbiter├òs life support systems. He or she monitors the cabin temperature and pressure, and makes sure that the water and air systems are working properly. The commander controls the Shuttle├òs radiators and monitors the electrical equipment to make sure everything is operating safely. The smoke detector and fire extinguisher system controls are located on this panel.
